Grail Figure: Hatsune Miku, Deep Sea Girl by Goodsmile company

One of my hobbies is collecting anime figures and I got into Hatsune Miku during the Pandemic when I started playing the rhythm game. 

I won't post every single figure I get but if you follow me on social media, you will see more pictures. I will blog about Grail figures though. I have created an Anime Figures Page where I will post photos of my latest acquisitions if anyone is interested.

For the past 2 years, if you ordered anything from Japan, you would know that International shipments were suspended by Japan Post. Many figures sat in a warehouse until shipments were resumed. I managed to change shipments on some figures to have them delivered by FedEx or DHL but the larger figures were too expensive to change shipping methods. The figure I received today came from Japan and I still had a $45 customs charge on it! 

I was super happy when I went to the post office to finally be able to pick up my highly anticipated, Deep Sea Girl figure by The Goodsmile Company! When this figure was originally released in 2014, I wasn't into Vocaloids back then and didn't purchase it. In fact, this figure was so popular that Goodsmile Company re-released it in 2017 and in 2021. As soon as I saw that the figure was available for pre-order on Tokyo Otaku Mode's website, I immediately bought it! I waited almost 2 years for this! It is a really exciting day for me!

The box the figure came in is absolutely beautiful. I normally don't keep too many boxes from my figures due to a lack of space but I am keeping this one! There were a few pieces that needed to be assembled, like most figures but the assembly was easy. I just had to attach her pigtails and corals to the base. The figure itself is really well made. There are some parts you have to assemble on the base to make it sturdy but it is so unnoticeable when you inspect the figure! I really like that the figure is secured on the base. It is a nice thing that the sculpting and paint job is absolutely stunning too! It really makes the cost of this figure well worth it and believe me, it wasn't cheap! 



All in all, I am very happy with this figure and finally happy she is home, happily displayed on my shelves! Please don't forget to stop by my Anime Figures page in the future to see my latest acquisitions!

The discombobulated life of a corp goth

I thought I was prepared by laying out my clothes the night before. I forgot that most of my corp goth outfits don't quite fit me due to the weight gain that happened over the pandemic. I still got a whopping 15 pounds to lose and I thought "oh I am sure it will fit, I will be fine." That was my death wish indeed! It Always Happens When You're Not Looking

The conclusion of my first semester as a University student has finally arrived, and with it comes a much-needed moment of respite. The weight of essays and finals has been lifted from my shoulders, allowing me to take a deep breath and shift my focus towards my job search. Looking back, I realize that I might have underestimated the academic rigor of University-level coursework, especially as an undergraduate, first semester student who hasn't been in school for about 20 years!  Only towards the end of the semester did I realize that I should have started with lower-level courses (level 200) instead. No wonder I struggled so much! I vividly recall the tears I shed when I received unsatisfactory grades on my first midterm essay and another midterm exam for a different course. I recently posted about how I set personal goals for myself because this helps me to stay on track when it comes to my depression and anxiety. You can read this post here if you are interested.  In that post, I briefly mentioned how I might have BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) and I would like to expand on that.
