The Bond Between Pizza, Ninja Turtles and my Partner

Image
Scene from the 1990 film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle film Pizza has always been a staple in my household, and it played a surprising role in connecting me with my partner. It all began during a particularly stressful winter semester, filled with endless essays and exams. In moments of anxiety, I sought solace in a beloved tradition that my child (whom I affectionately call my 'baby bat') and I had cultivated over the years. Since my child was very young, we'd watch the original live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie from the '90s while enjoying homemade or ordered pizza. I vividly recall one day when the weight of my impending finals was overwhelming. That's when I decided that a pizza and Ninja Turtle movie night was precisely what I needed. I even shared my plans on Facebook, as it was a cherished tradition. To my surprise, my partner, who was merely an online friend at that time commented on the post, sparking a conversation about '80s and '90s mo

E-Bikes, Scooters, and Motorcycles - Oh My! A Love Story on Two Wheels

Image
In my opinion, there is nothing more appealing and sexier than a man on a bike. When my partner expressed his desire to own an E-Bike for zipping around town, we decided it was time to make the purchase. Luckily, we stumbled upon a shop in our area with one E-Bike left in stock as the summer season was coming to an end, and it happened to be in the model and colour he desired. Upon arriving at the shop, I spotted a gentleman working on an E-Bike that resembled a motorcycle with its striking red paint and imposing physique. I couldn't help but exclaim, "I want that bike!" My partner chuckled and pointed out that I might be too short for it. In defiance, I proclaimed myself a fearless adventurer who had no intention of riding a mini putt-putt around town. With his insistence, I approached the gentleman and asked if I could try sitting on his bike. Getting on it proved to be a challenge, with my feet barely touching the ground. Undeterred, we purchased my partner's E-Bik

Love in Beta Testing

Navigating a relationship with a musician or writer can be an exhilarating yet amusing experience, especially when you find yourself at the center of their creative inspiration. This post is an affectionate dedication to my partner, where my profession as a writer, allows me to explore our quirks and idiosyncrasies and get inspired to write about it. We affectionately refer to this phase of our relationship as "beta testing," where we're continually learning about each other and testing our compatibility in the close confines of his cozy, tiny apartment. Living together temporarily for an extended period has provided us with a unique opportunity to delve into each other's lives and truly understand one another. While some may struggle with the proximity, we, as introverted souls, have surprisingly found solace in each other's company. Of course, living in such proximity has its challenges, but this post focuses on the endearing and lighthearted aspects of our jour

The Discombobulated Life of a Coffee Drinker

Image
A nice cup of coffee in my Michael Myers mug! If you know me personally, you would undoubtedly be aware of my deep and unwavering love for coffee. It is not merely a beverage to me; it is an essential part of my daily routine, a sacred ritual that breathes life into my soul each morning. Without my beloved coffee, I transform into an irritable and frenzied individual, akin to a raving lunatic. Coffee, with its invigorating jolt of caffeine, never fails to uplift my spirits and infuse me with a renewed sense of vitality. It faithfully accompanies me through both the best and worst of times, serving as a source of encouragement during moments of despair and a loyal companion during moments of triumph. In essence, coffee is like a warm and comforting hug that never fails to envelop me in its embrace. Lately, I have been unabashedly boasting about my intellectual prowess, particularly in light of my recent achievement: successfully completing my first semester at university with commendabl

The Discombobulated Life of a University Student

Image
Today was my first day at University. It was everything I imagined it would be and much, much more. As you guessed from this blog's title, it was a crazy, wild day! I had a dream! Let's start from the beginning. A few days ago, I had a dream that I got lost on campus and couldn't find my class. In my dream, I even took the school's shuttle bus and went to the other campus that is located across the city. I ended up finding the class by the time it was over. I had to take a photo of Concordia University's shuttle bus that takes you to the Loyola campus. I thought it was hilarious considering the circumstances! Guess what really happened? It all started when I woke up at 3:30am with a migraine. I took one of my meds with some Tylenol and fell back to sleep once the pills started to take effect. My alarms (yes, that is plural and not a typo) went off and I promptly shut them off. I snoozed my last alarm but slept through it. My baby bat's dad had a premonition and

Adult Crabapple Soup

Soup cooking on the stove! When I was a kid, I used to go camping every summer with my mother at Long Sault Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. I used to look forward to these trips because my grandparents and Uncle had adjoining campsites. This meant I could play with my favourite cousin, Dean!  Me and Dean when we were kids. BFFs! I have so many fond childhood memories from Long Sault. I remember this truck would pass by every day with a microphone announcing "firewood for sale" and for some odd reason, we would get all excited over this. I remember my aunt and uncle giving me chocolate syrup every morning for my milk. I remember swimming in the lake and sometimes an adult would take us to the beach down the road. I remember collecting empty beer bottles with Dean in the woods and empty campsites. We would then go begging to an adult to take us to the nearest store (Beckers - which the adults would call Peckers when they thought we weren't listening!) to cash in the bot

Discombobulated Corp Goth, Halloween 2022 edition

Hello dear readers! Boy, do I have a silly story for you and I am really excited to share it!  It all started during the very early morning hours Monday morning (Halloween day} when my baby bat (my son) woke me up because he wasn't feeling good. He was sluggish and sniffling a lot. I let him sleep in my bed until my alarm goes off.  The thing is, I have several alarms on my phone. It is the most annoying sound in the world too and I am almost guaranteed to get up except this time, I kept shutting off my alarms and falling into a deep sleep. My alarms go off every 10 minutes! My ability to fall into a deep sleep in a matter of seconds always amazes me. I always know when my last alarm goes off because it tells me in a robotic voice to "get your ass out of bed" and this time, I decided to rebel against the robot and set the alarm to snooze. The thing is, my baby bat and I can sleep through a nuclear explosion and when the snooze alarm went off, we slept through it. I don&#

"We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents." - Bob Ross Well, dear readers, I got a funny story for you all. It all happened on Friday when I went to a job interview. I thought I was prepared by laying out my clothes the night before. I forgot that most of my corp goth outfits don't quite fit me due to the weight gain that happened over the pandemic. I still got a whopping 15 pounds to lose and I thought "oh I am sure it will fit, I will be fine." That was my death wish indeed! Those are the best final words I could have muttered to myself before falling asleep last night! I got up early enough and since I had plenty of time to spare, I decided to watch a movie. I somehow lost track of time and had to get ready in a hurry. I picked out my best undergarments as I wanted to feel confident (there is a point to this, I will get to it in a bit, trust me!) Seriously ladies, wear those sexy undergarments if that is your thing! It really does help boost y
