Grail figure: Asuka Shikinami Langley, Evangelion Thrice Upon A Time

Neon Genesis Evangelion Thrice Upon a Time movie was released in 2021 and is the fourth installment of the series. I have been a fan of this anime for years. In fact, it was one of the first animes I ever watched! 

In 2021, Amakuni and Amiami released a beautiful 1/6 scale figure of Asuka Shikinami Langley to commemorate the movie. Being a big fan of this series, I had to pre-order this figure! Asuka holds a special place in my heart. I relate so much to this character. In the series, you can clearly see she has many symptoms associated with BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) that are left untreated. She reminds me that I need to keep constant vigilance over my mental health and to continue seeking treatment. She is my lesson on who I could be if I let my symptoms take control of my life. 


I waited almost two years for this figure and I was not disappointed when it arrived. It was totally worth the long wait!

The figure itself is very beautiful. I can see no visible defects. The figure is well-sculpted and the paint job is fantastic. The artists really put in a lot of effort to get all the details and shading! The figure didn't require much assembly, however, it was very difficult to attach her scythe to her hands. It took me a while and lots of swearing to get it all to fit together. Considering the figure is a scale figure and quite big, it comes with a hefty price tag. If you are a big Evangelion fan, I highly recommend it! It is totally worth every penny!

The discombobulated life of a corp goth

I thought I was prepared by laying out my clothes the night before. I forgot that most of my corp goth outfits don't quite fit me due to the weight gain that happened over the pandemic. I still got a whopping 15 pounds to lose and I thought "oh I am sure it will fit, I will be fine." That was my death wish indeed! It Always Happens When You're Not Looking

The conclusion of my first semester as a University student has finally arrived, and with it comes a much-needed moment of respite. The weight of essays and finals has been lifted from my shoulders, allowing me to take a deep breath and shift my focus towards my job search. Looking back, I realize that I might have underestimated the academic rigor of University-level coursework, especially as an undergraduate, first semester student who hasn't been in school for about 20 years!  Only towards the end of the semester did I realize that I should have started with lower-level courses (level 200) instead. No wonder I struggled so much! I vividly recall the tears I shed when I received unsatisfactory grades on my first midterm essay and another midterm exam for a different course. I recently posted about how I set personal goals for myself because this helps me to stay on track when it comes to my depression and anxiety. You can read this post here if you are interested.  In that post, I briefly mentioned how I might have BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) and I would like to expand on that. This is where I got the image One thing that many BPD sufferers do is seek external validation or approval and have an irrational fear of abandonment. As a result, we tend to push people away before they can leave us.  Very recently, I sought validation from someone who decided to be a huge ass dick and didn't give me the validation and approval I was so desperately seeking.
